Greetings Humans.
This season has been personally and professionally over-stimulating. Between events and performances, projects and deadlines, I’ve had quite a bit going on.
And in all that tasking, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking (as usual). Thinking about care. Community. Collectivism. Collaboration. Connection.

This week brought the 2024 Election, and the frankly unexpected result… that around half of our country chose a candidate whose stated mission is to dismantle all that seems to be stabilizing our very rickety foundation. Whose followers believe this country would be better without the immigrant backs on which we stand. Whose party values winning (conquering) and financial gain over the wellbeing of the masses (my patients). Brick by brick, plans are in the works to bring it all tumbling down. No hyperbole.
Jenga!
In my surprise, I remind myself of my plans. My hopes for a brighter future. My dream of leaving this place better than I found it. Even just a stitch.
In the spirit of Collectivism, I had scheduled an A Bedside Campfire gathering at a local coffee shop in Lombard. I hope to discuss Care in the Community and support for Healthcare Navigation. I don’t know what’ll come of it, but it feels like a start. A dialogue. A spark in the dark?
If you’d care to join us, come by MOTW Coffee in Lombard on 11/11 at 7PM. I’m making this up as I go, and I invite you to do the same. Like Harold and the Purple Crayon, we have the power to draw the future as we’d like to see it. It’ll take the imaginations of the masses, so please bring yours.
Off we get. Take good care.
Love,
Jessie
Love it!
