Hello, friends!
I’m keeping this short (for real this time).
I need your help.
I learned recently about a service called the Nurse Honor Guard. Like a service for fallen veterans, it’s a way to honor nurses for their service when they die (yes, a bit morbid, but death is in our faces all the time in Healthcare, and I actually like talking about it).
When my North Star Nurse died, I felt a hole in my heart (I still do, but I used to, too). She and many others have had traditional funerals, which I believe are important and meaningful.
But/And — I believe we could do more to honor the service of those in caring professions. And, selfishly, for nurses.
I was given some contact information for Nurse Honor Guard coalitions in Illinois, and so far they’ve been dead ends.
Does a Nurse Honor Guard this exist in Chicago/Suburbs? If so, where are they?
What are your thoughts on this (whether you work in Healthcare, nursing, teaching, or any other caring profession).
What about an interprofessional Healthcare Worker Honor Guard?
Do you feel it? (Please, for real, leave a comment). I love you <3
Love,
Jessie
Interesting- Glad you found the info!
Good Morning! Yes, Illinois does have an Honor Guard. A friend from Labor and Delivery passed away. 2 representative s came to the funeral. The RN’s that wanted to participate wore a white blouse and black pants. It was a very touching service.
I miss seeing you.Much love to you, Nancy
