I crossed the streams today because I had to be a patient advocating for myself. I kept getting discouraged as the holes in the swiss cheese continually lined up. It was not an emergency, it was not even urgent, it was just something that needed an answer on a Friday going into the weekend. Because you know what I mean, I will spare you the explanation.
I crossed the streams, and lived to tell the tale. That's part of me. It's part of the lived experience of nurses. It's hard to define. But I'm using my words.
When I'm coughing and I can't sleep. I'm using my words.
But my words aren't enough. I'm looking for a discussion. To connect. In real life. Virtually is leaving something to be desired. It works, so I can mute when I cough, and unmute, and not wonder if they're concerned about my coughing in their presence.
