In this episode, I share:
A bit about my journey through nursing from the bedside to Quality Improvement, from Education to Leadership, and a bit of the in-betweens
The care of other humans and the people we/they serve (the patients, their care partners, and our colleagues
What I’ve learned recently, including a smidge about my current Fitness Instructor Training class and the incredible WILD THINGS CONFERENCE I attended last weekend in Rosemont, IL
If you’re interested in what’s waiting for me in my “to be read” pile, here it is:
The First 90 Days: Proven Strategies for Getting Up to Speed Faster and Smarter by Michael D. Watkins (this one I’m actually actively reading)
No Pressure, No Diamonds: Mining for Gifts in Illness and Loss by Teri A. Dillion
There Are Rivers In The Sky by Elif Shafak
The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins
I, Robot by Isaac Asimov
If you haven’t already, check out the Wild Things Conference site wildthingscommunity.org to see all the amazing community organizations in and around Illinois who are doing the dang thing to save our planet and its creatures.
And finally, I went to Punk Rock Tacos for the first time last night, and got to catch Chicago’s very own The Bollweevils play an energetic, medicinal, cathartic set. The event took place in a taco shop on North Avenue in Villa Park, accompanied by volunteers from Punk Rock Saves Lives (handing out free earplugs and other safety gear). It was incredible. I’m in awe of humans like Jennifer the Nurse Practitioner (and PRSL volunteer). And Dr. Daryl, The Bollweevils front-man, who I had no idea was in a punk band when we first met almost a decade ago :O <3
But that is a story for another day <3
Take good care!
Love,
Jessie
