This is my first attempt at recording a cover of Tracy Chapman’s medicinal song “Talkin Bout a Revolution”.
I should’ve trimmed my nails, practiced a little more, and maybe washed my face before attempting this. But here we are, rough, rested & ready on an early Thursday morning.
Be sure to check out the up-and-coming library of A Bookish Collective, and invite a friend to the campfire.
There are glimmers of a hopeful future out there. Before I decide to bury my head in the sand… I’m gonna sing. Create. PLAY.
And Plan.
What will we do if the support systems disappear?
How will we handle the care of our communities without the back-up generators and financial/social infrastructure designed to protect the aging and disabled?
Can we continue to navigate “business as usual” while those in power (seemingly unfamiliar with the design and intricate workings of these systems) dismantle and decimate Medicare, Social Security, Grant Programs, and other impactful legislation?
These questions are not rhetorical.
Robert Reich is keeping some wisdom flowing. So is Heather Cox Richardson. And, so far, the leaders I interact with on a regular basis (locally). So, for now, I feel safe where I am and how I work.
And, we need a plan. A small one. A local one. Like, maybe at the county level? The region? I don’t know.
Take good care.
Love,
Jessie
